On 7th October our Operations Director, Trudy Stephens will be running the half marathon in Cardiff for the Alzheimer’s Society.
She says: “Working at Gwernllwyn, I see the short and long-term impact that living with dementia has on individuals and their loved ones and I want to do more in the pursuit of social justice and change. I am passionate about improving dementia care and support and helping people live the life they love. As a dementia champion, I support people in becoming dementia friends through raising awareness and encouraging a more dementia friendly society allowing individuals to live without fear or prejudice.
In South Wales alone there are over 25,000 people living with dementia and this is predicted to rise to over 30,000 by 2021 according to the Alzheimer’s Society. I want to help to power and advance ground-breaking research and by raising money, greater progress is made towards a world without dementia.
Running 13.1 miles is going to be a BIG task for me, however, a challenge that I have accepted in support of this worthy cause. I am currently making my way through a brutal training program and looking forward to reaching both targets of £325 for the charity and the loss of lots of lbs on the weighing scales.
Join the fightback to find life-changing treatment…if I can run 13.1 miles then anything is possible. Let’s unite against Dementia!
Every penny donated to the Alzheimer’s Society will make a difference and allow for the vital work to continue. I would like to thank everyone in advance for their support and kind donations. My sincere thanks, Trudy.”
